The Long Now Foundation presented the North American Premiere of Brian Eno's 77 Million Paintings for 3 days at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Words fail to adequately convey what it was like. The exhibition also features a new piece Totnes displayed every night. The Helsinki Music Center exhibition also includes Eno’s immersive installations The Ship and Thursday Afternoon. This is one of those things that needs to be experienced. Eno brings to Helsinki Festival his already-classic installation 77 Million Paintings (2006): a work that will constantly evolve during its 18 days on display. After that, I was primed and ready to indulge myself into the rest of the festival. I spent a fair amount of time basking in the sights and sounds that can only be described as consciousness-altering. I decided to check out the art installation, to get myself in the proper mental-state-of-being for three days of mind-expanding music.

The former keyboardist for Roxy Music, creator of the ambient music genre and the iPhone Bloom app, and a well-known music producer for acts such as U2, Talking Heads and Coldplay, Eno is also a visual artist and designers whose work has appeared internationally. This ticket was for admission to an art installation by Brian Eno which was part of MoogFest in Asheville, NC. The Limited Edition 77 Million Paintings features an exclusive interview DVD in which Brian Eno discusses his creation of the 77 Million Paintings software, the next evolutionary stage of his exploration into light as an artist's medium and the aesthetic possibilities of 'generative software. Brian Eno is one of the heavyweights of generative art.
